In this review, of a Brownell product, Chris Cheng writes, “For the past few months, I’ve been using Brownell’s soft case for storage and transportation to both my local range, and for airplane rides across the country. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the bag, and here are some of the reasons why.

3-gunners have a lot of gear. Imagine all the gear you need for one gun, and basically multiply it by 2x-3x. Having one bag to carry all three guns is a very nice arrangement. Inside the main compartment, there is room for two long guns which is separated by a thick foam divider. Straps on each side keep the long guns in place. Nice padding lines the edges of the bag as well.  […]”

The Brownell’s case is made of durable nylon and has treated me well the past few months while I’ve been actively shooting and traveling. I look forward to many more months and years of use.

It’s easy to get caught up in the latest pocket wonders…flashlights that seem almost miraculous when compared to the flashlights of 4 or 5 years ago.

The Cyclops Orbis makes no pretensions about being a small wonder – it is billed simply as an “LED Rechargeable Spotlight”, and that is exactly what it is.     […]

scar_h_std_d_01-660x191A few months we reported that Chile had agreed to purchase 2,000 Colt M4 Carbines. The Chilean government now claim that Colt were unable to deliver the rifles at the price they originally agreed upon. They have now made a deal to purchase FN SCAR-L and SCAR-H rifles instead, and will also be buying 7.62mm FN MINIMI machine guns from Colt to replace their 5.56mm ULTIMAX Mk3 machine guns.  […]

negev_4Mexican Federal Police have adopted the IWI’s next-gen lightweight machine gun, the Negev . The gun is not a lot bigger than a rifle and can be configured to fire from a belt, an AR-15 or Galil magazine. The video below (not graphic, safe for work) shows Mexican Federal Police being ambushed in the mountains near Michoacan, Mexico last week. You can see a policeman using the Negev at the start of the video.

ATK's Share PriceIt is not often we get to peer into the accounts of a gun company. Up until recently there were only two publicly listed firearm makers in the USA, Ruger and Smith & Wesson, but they both produce a huge range of firearms, teasing out the financials from a particular category of firearms is difficult. Earlier this year the public company ATK purchased Savage Arms for a cool $315 million. In the earnings call today Mark W. DeYoung, CEO of ATK, revealed that they expect Savage Arms to have sales in the range of  $180 million to $190 million and will have operating profit in the range of $25 million to $28 million. Not bad for a company that almost exclusively sells bolt action rifles! […]

When Steve and I were walking the aisles at SHOT this past January we happened across the Christensen Arms booth. What I saw in the way of precision rifles, AR’s and 1911’s really got my attention more than any other booth I’d visited.

As I started looking over the various offerings of bolt-action rifles, custom high quality AR’s and very handsome custom 1911’s I was hooked. I immediately requested a Damascus 1911 for review. It took six months to arrive but it was very much worth the wait.   […]

German Police Experimenting With 3D Printed Guns

3d-printed-gun

3D printed guns made headlines earlier this year, especially when the 3D printed “Liberator” pistol design was released to the public by Defense Distributed. It sparked a debate as to whether plans for 3D printed guns such as the Liberator pistol should be available to the public. The State Department even requested that Defense Distributed take down their 3D printer files a few months back citing a violation of ITAR regulations.

Well it looks like the German Police (the Bundeskriminalamt), or the BKA for short, are getting in on the 3D printed gun action. They’ve purchased a 3D printer of their own to test whether these inexpensive firearms are a real concern, or […]
